Loss of Odd Transponders during a Rain Out

During some heavy rain storms over 5 hours this weekend, I lost the signal on 148W - not surprising considering its elevation is at 13 degrees and I am shooting through so much low atmosphere and the number of storms on radar to my West.

I did get a suprise looking at the signal screen. I had a low but usable signal on the Even Transponders (about 50) and had no signal on any of the Odd Transponders, which is really all I care about on 148W.

Usually you always see questions about Even number transponders disappearing due to lack of proper voltage (18Volts) to switch the lnb. Is there some logical reason for why this would happen to the odd transponders - as I would be happy with a 50 on the odd transponders for brief periods of times instead of no signal?

Echostar 1 and 2 operate at 148. Checking lyngsat, it says that echostar 1 operates all the odd transponders. So I'm assuming its a tad weaker than E2, or the footprint is a little weaker on the east side of the US.

Echostar 1 has the odd numbered transponders 1 - 31
Echostar 2 has the even numbered transponders 2 - 32
Each of these birds can only transmit odd and even transponders respectively.

That would explain it - also good to know if I can tweak the Dish for E1.
