Looks like Disney was paid by Blu-Ray group!

It was no comment. If they say no; people will say they're lying. If they say yes; people will say "I told you so".

It's a can't win proposition for Disney.

Hey, if you can get a studio's support with a little money -- why not. If Paramount and Dreamworks was open to an offer to go exclusive then the BDA and Sony should of poney'd up and outbid Toshiba and the HD-DVD group. Business is done this way all the time. You guy's want to cry fowl when the BDA buys support or exclusiveness but when the HD-DVD crowd does it -- its WOW -- GREAT MOVE!! When the BDA does this its 'THEY ARE FORCING A FORMAT DOWN OUR THROATS!!"

Am I the only one here who sees this as THE POT CALLING THE KETTLE BLACK!

While I am on that Pot and Kettle thing -- if Warner is open to going exclusive with some gladhanding -- whatever it might be -- the BDA should sell their shirts!! If Warner were to go HD-DVD exclusive it would definately put the studio support in a basic even - steven arena and we would definately be looking at two HD discs based formats in the USA. But if Warner were to go BD exclusive -- WELL -- that would be a totally differant kind of news wouldn't it?

Which one are you -- the pot or the kettle?:D
I'm so glad I taught you one word - kettle - that you used already 3 times in less than 4 hours...
without a single spelling mistake (not that it really make a differance).

Congrats!

Diogen.

As a causal stock trader, sounds like it's time to buy some studio stocks - and sell Sony, Toshiba. etc. :p

BTW - did you see that Bill Hunt finally fessed up that he was wrong about it being Microsoft's money in the Paramount / Dreamworks deal?

Yes and somewhere here in one of these forums I meantioned that. Was this a good move for Toshiba? Only time will tell.

Not me. I just want a spade to be called a spade. I don't want to hear how supperior one product was over the other when Paramount had already announced adopting PCM for future BD titles while not using TrueHD in all of their HD-DVD releases (very few as a matter of fact). They threw their hat in the exclusive ring for $100 mil and that is no chump change and they will not loose a thing if BD does actually win. Business is business and right now these two camps are pulling out their wallets to get their respective formats to the finish line. It is just that the finish line is not even in sight right now -- so this just gives the early adopters like us more fuel for our hot debates.

This is how I see it. Sony has spent their ad money on securing endcaps in popular retailers for XMAS. Toshiba spent their ad money on securing Paramont and Dreamworks to an exclusive contract (along with the Michael Impeorie commercials). In January we will see who's money was better spent. And my guess is that we will all have less of ours!:D

HD/BD yields

Are there a bigger bunch of cry babies?
