The dish i bought was used and has a sadoun dual standard linear ku lnb on it. I have used it for a few weeks and noticed it was a .4 lnb. I was wondering if I were to buy a .1 lnb or a .2 would I really expect to get much difference? I read some camparisons, but none with the lnb i have now, it is a kul2 model lnb from sadoun and I was looking at getting a .1 lnb off the net.

I am currently getting low 70's to low 80's on most tps off sats from 53 to 127 with my setup and the kul2 with a geosat microhd. Do you think i could get much better? The only thing I notice is when i change to channels it at times takes 2 seconds to pop up on the screen and I dont know if it is the lnb or the receiver? it sucks when I am going through my feed channels and seeing if anything is up on the current channel list because I have to wait.

if you read through posts those "0.1" and "0.2" numbers are just hype. SatelliteAV's LNB is a .5 because Brian doesnt believe in "hype".

I did a comparison between SatelliteAv's LNB and my Sadoun .4 (the exact same one you have). Now the Sadoun one has been up there for 4 or 5 years

In fact this thread is classic
http://www.satelliteguys.us/threads/292116-Avenger-PLL322S-2-(New-Dual-Port-KU-PLL)

read post 12 (you have to download the pdf of the magazine).....so the same guy who admits those numbers are bogus now sells one claiming .1
(actually I attached the picture of the page in question)

I remember when my old Primstar LNB's that were a .9 or even a 1.0 beat the so called .3's out there

stability is the key...

thanks man, I thought a bit of that too. I used to use primestars and would get great signals too. now, with your micro hd when you go from channel to channel is there any kind of pause? I get a 2 sec black screen before pics. I never noticed this on other receivers so I am wondering if it could be the lnb. I usually leave my channels up and dont delete them for a while and sometimes just go through a sat like 91* and just see if stuff is up on the existing feed channels and it is a pain with this waiting and no telling how many of the channels i am passing up.

I think in the display menus you can set it for AUTO (instead of 480, 720, 1080) which would take time to figure out the resolution

I leave mine on 720p (since my TV is 720p) but 2 seconds really isnt that long. I really can't say how long between changing channels it is but I'm use to Directv and my DVR where it takes 2-3 seconds to change channels so I'm use to it :)

2 seconds is too long? Seriously? Do you expect a blind scan to only take 12 seconds to go through?

lol, no maybe it is more than 2 secs, it is longer than what i am used to from the past when i had pansats, that is why i am questioning the lnb.
thanks iceberg for your help

check to see what the display is set to

Also if you are reusing the same transponders and not deleting the channels the PIDS do change which can cause issues or the frequency may be off a little bit and it takes longer for the LNB to lock the signal. That is usually not the LNB but the frequency shifting.

Thats why I delete channels after a weekend of college football games. :)

I agree with ice here. Don't fall for these keying hype. Like mentioned I have several prime star dishes with the old .8 NFC lb fs and they do just as good . Now If you have the itch. May e one of the newer pll lb fs would be nice. But if it was me. I would look around. Find one of those free prime star dishes and tinker around with that. As always. More is better. :D

On my Micro I switched it to auto (the 1st option) and anytime it switched from 480i to something else it was 4-5 seconds for the TV to change format

otherwise its about a second

I agree with Ice, wipe out all those old temp channels on Monday or Tuesday after a big weekend of scanning, remove the old transponders too because they will eventually eat up memory. Then you're ready for the next weekend of heavy use, and won't have to wait going through a list of old channels. That delay in changing channels is probably something in the receiver, though I have one that takes 10-12seconds to switch from c-band to ku! And it ain't the diseqc switch. All receivers have some weird kinks in them.

Some companies inflate the specs to get more sales.
My s10 takes about 1-2 seconds. One time I landed on $ marked channel while I got a phone call, first it was a black screen and about 10-15 seconds later while still talking on the phone I had a channel to watch.
I also noticed that weaker signals are more likely to do that.
