Does anyone know why my local channels do not follow me when I travel across the country in my Motor Home?
D* just tells me that's not allowed, I am interested in knowing how they know where I am at to decide to give me my locals or not. Thanks, Brian

Your locals are probably on a "spot beam" that is aimed at their home area. When you get out of that area, with a little spillover, you lose them.

Correct, has nothing to do with DirecTV. It's the technolgy that locals are on spotbeams which means they only cover a certain part of the country.

Now since you have an RV you could easily submit an "RV Waiver" to DirecTV and you'd get the national feeds from NY or LA. The form is right on the DirecTV website.

Yes, the NY and LA stations (FOX, CBS, ABC, NBC) and the Baltimore CW are all on the national beam and should be available to you.
