Can anyone tell me what happens to cause my Dish receiver to lose the ability to receive local channels when the receiver is either disconnected from the antenna or the power souce for an extended period of time. One example, I store my motorhome in a metal building (in my home DMA) where the antenna cannot communicate back to Dish. When I pull the motorhome out and power up dish system (still in my DMA), I always have to call Dish to get them to reinstate my local channels. So far, I haven't been able to get an answer re: why from Dish customer service.

It's by design, the new smartcard (or internal IC) are designed to deactive after a certain amount of time when it doesn't receive the activation signal that it normally would get when hooked to a dish and receiving a signal. It will reactivate by itself if left connected for about a day or so. best thing do do would be hook it up in your house when you are not using the RV.
