Local Channels Signal Strength

I often use my Dtv system while tailgating at football games.
The location of the stadium is on the fringe of my local channel spot satellite. I have notice that over the past couple of months my local channels have gone in and out throughout the day. (usually good in the AM and Late PM)Does anyone know of any way to improve my satellite signal strength for local channels when on I'm on the outer limits of my local network area.
Will an Oval dish or better (newer) cables help?

If you are using an 18" dish a 24" or 30" dish will capture more signal that is about all you can do.
