Hello folks,
Having a problem dialing in NSS-5. Location is Guam, 13 23N, 144 40E and using a 1.8 meter solid to recieve NSS 5. Dish type is prime focus and the LNBF is a PBI Turbo 1200 H/V 17 degree unit, receiver is a Chinese clone. I ordered the dielectric plate so that I could receive the circular polarization from NSS-5 (setting up for 3977, left hand polarization) and first glued the plate to the feedhorn cover (the plate was outside the throat). With some experimentation I was able to locate the sat, but only received 55 percent signal strength, with a max of 38 percent quality on the Pentagon channel, which is currently FTA (I'm just trying to get the sat dialed in until I receive the Powervu receiver tomorrow). The receiver showed vertical for the left hand polarization. When I fitted the plate inside the feedhorn throat, I cannot receive anything, and I did have it aligned properly. Does anyone here have some advice for this sat? From what I have described am I doing something wrong? I've attached some photos which may help determine what I am doing wrong. Thanks for any help.
Garry
