LNB throwing compass off?

When I go to take a compass reading if I get anywhere near the dish suddenly it jumps 40 degrees. I am using my phone as a compass could that be the problem?

Large metal objects like satellite dishes do affect magnetic fields.

I've found the the compass on my phone is about as accurate as using a rubber band to measure the diameter of the pole...
