LNB Conversion

Hey guys,

What are some common items that can be used as dielectric plates in converting LNBs? Can credit cards be used as substitute for teflon, or cds for that matter?

I think it needs to be thicker than that (maybe 2 or 3 credit cards)

Ah ok, so 2-3 credit cards cut so that it fits into the feedhorn. Thanks! I was under the impression that only teflon worked.

you could buy a cheap teflon frying pan for $5 at walmart and vut it up, try that.

Guys, how deep does the dielectrical plate have to be inside the feedhorn? Does it have to touch the back?

both of my feedhorns have slots about an inch inside the feedhorn about where the scaler # start exactly inline between the h & v probes ** note its not between them , the probes are 1 inch and 2 inches above where the plate would go.

On the LNB I have, there are no slots. But, is the dielectric plate supposed to 45 degrees to the antennae inside the feedhorn? Does it work if the dielectric plate does not extend all the way to the back?

It looks in your pictures that the dielectric plate is 90 degrees to the antennae.
