Has anyone here ever used the LiteBeam M5 or something similar? I would like to extend my wifi in one direction a little over 1000 ft into my workshop, and this seemed an economical way to do it. Will the wifi signal bend "a little" around obstacles, or does it have to be direct line-of-sight?

Well, i bought a couple of these to set up a wireless bridge. It cost just under $100. In order to set one up as a station and the other as an access point, I had to download and update the firmware.

After configuring them and setting them up at the end of each building, I powered them on. They are designed to broadcast up to 18 miles, so signal meter was maxed out (I measured the distance to the shop, and it was 1600 ft.) I backed the gain off until I had good signal, but wasn't cooking the neighbors with microwaves, and it works perfect; even through the snowstorm we had a few days ago. I guess the ones I bought were really too big. The make smaller ones.
