Depends entirely on price.
Cheap multi-megapixel cameras are under $100 .
..
With new phones having pretty decent cameras built in already, who ya gonna sell to?
Cheapskates like me running old phones? (iPhone 4)
..
The area where this could excel, is in low light sensitivity (not phoney ASA/ISO ratings delivering grainy garbage pix )!
Oh, and actual/real optics that don't destroy your picture.
Possibly zoom/telephoto lens, too.
But how many unwashed end users know the value of these features?
