Uniden America Corporation, a leading manufacturer of wireless consumer electronics, showcases cutting-edge innovations in Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) and Bluetooth technology in addition to launching a new category, peer-to-peer technology, at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES), January 5-8, 2006, at the Las Vegas Convention Center, booth #12044 in the Central Hall. Uniden today announces an alliance in North America with Microsoft Corp. to deliver a digital cordless phone that serves as a traditional landline phone and takes calling to the next level by also enabling customers to make and receive Internet calls via the upcoming Windows Live(TM) Messenger phone. Uniden also introduces its 2006 cordless phone lineup as well as new scanner and GMRS radio offerings, demonstrating its commitment to providing innovation across all its categories in the consumer electronics industry.
Uniden's alliance with Microsoft allows consumers to experience next-generation telephony and presence technology with the launch of the WIN 1200 (MSRP $99.99). With the WIN 1200, customers will have three calling choices with the solution: Windows Live Messenger free PC-to-PC calling allowing users to place and receive voice calls; MCI Web Calling offering Windows Live Messenger users a low-cost PC-to-phone outbound calling option; and traditional landline phone service. Uniden advances its key industry partnerships with Vonage and Packet8 to expand its VoIP offerings and launches new products with each of these leading service providers. Uniden introduces the UIP1869V phone system, enabled with Vonage service, as well as the UIP165P phone system, enabled with service from Packet8. These 5.8GHz digital phones are expandable up to 10 handsets and allow consumers to deploy VoIP telephony throughout the home or office.
Uniden enhances its cordless offerings with the ELBT595, a Bluetooth-enabled cordless phone that allows consumers to take advantage of their cellular long-distance minutes with the reliability and convenience of a landline. Additionally, Uniden launches its 2006 traditional cordless phone suite, including a 5.8GHz digital product line offering expandability of up to 10 handsets.

-- UIP1869V and UIP165P: Configured with service from leading providers Vonage and Packet8, these 5.8GHz digital cordless phone systems, expandable up to 10 handsets, allow consumers to experience the affordability of VoIP throughout the home or office, or use traditional landlines.
Cordless Telephones:
-- 5.8GHz Digital Expandable: Full-featured 5.8GHz digital line expandable up to 10 handsets as well as Bluetooth-enabled phones wirelessly connecting cellular phones with landlines.

GMRS/FRS Radios:

Scanners:
-- Bearcat BCD996T: This mobile digital scanner is GPS-enabled, allowing the product to automatically select nearby radio systems for scanning. The BCD996T also offers APCO 25 digital capability, allowing consumers to monitor the activities and signals of city and government service departments.
-- BCT15: This model is GPS-enabled and also offers Uniden's unique BearTracker system, which alerts mobile users to public safety activity in their area. Also features Close Call(R) RF Capture Technology that automatically locks onto nearby signals with no programming necessary.
