I'm counting on Rodgers not being there so that way my pick is correct :D .

Bama offers Saban an extension? Better come close to what Texas is willing to pay

$100 million 10 year contract would persuade anyone to make a change. This is why you should keep your mouth shut on what you may or may not do in the future. Never say never.....

Some good debate pieces today.

As much as I would LOVE the Expos to come back to Montreal (and no doubt I'd buy season seats), I'd feel for the Ray fans as we know from first hand experience.. losing your team sucks. Can someone explain to me whats the deal with Tampa? Its a well run/managed organization so whats the problem? Crappy location or stadium or people just not ball fans?

As for plate collisions. Am against removing it. Its part of the game, leave it! Its called "hard" ball for more than 1 reason. Hustling and busting tail to the plate has been part of the game since 1888 IIRC. If they want to change something, how about preventing catchers from blocking the plate before they have the ball.

Cheers K

Anyone think this is much of a big deal? I haven't heard of anyone throwing their arms up in the air over this one.

I cant agree with it. Its going to be too subjective to inforce..... Runners dont have eyes behind their heads when running for home...are they going to be waved off by the umpire or have to jump over the catcher? What if the catcher "fakes" a catch to distract the runner?

Cheers, K

You cant have the Hustle without the Charlie.

I'm not sure I understand the issue here. The blocking of home by the catcher and the targeting of the catcher by the runner would no longer be allowed. It then comes down to the normal slide/tag play that's always been there.

As for "eyes behind their heads", isn't that the on-deck batter's responsibility, to signal the runner to slide or not??

From what am reading, they want to stop all types of "collisions" ie- contact between the runner and catcher. Contact, IMO, is unavoidable.
For the eyes, its the 3rd base coach to "green light the runner"... if anything, the on-deck batter's role is to yell/wave "hurry the h*** up"
in a tight play scenario

I've seen no references to avoiding contact, I'm not sure where you did. There obviously has to be some sort of contact allowed since a tag by the catcher is the goal. What's at question here is eliminating the full-speed running collision into the catcher.
