but she said my bill needed to be current. I called to cancel dish service after a long time of service but she talked me into keeping service for present. she would lower it to 14.95 or something like that. we have family plan service. does someone know who to call to get this implemented? chas

I would call DISH and explain you were talking to a retention specialist and need to talk them again. Just a word of caution, they may not acknowledge it was offered, or give you that offer again, but then again they may.

Would DIRT be able to confirm an offer that was made by a retention agent (notes on account, etc?)

Yes, they should. The poster would have to contact DIRT and give them a phone # or account #, and the 4 digit security code on the account, and they could check the account notes. The loyalty agents are generally pretty good about posting their notes to the account, so if there was an offer, it could be applied.

I am a little suspicious the offer could be for the welcome pack less a $5 discount a month for 10 months. For folks on lower packages, paying less per month, not as much will get offered up as a retention offer. Just a little common sense there, a customer that spends less than $40 a month isn't going to get the same offer someone who has the AT250 and all premiums (or most of the premiums) would get, as they pay well over $100 per month.

FYI to the original poster, do you have the Smart Pack? That used to be known as the Family Plan, and was $29.99, and went to $32.99 this February.

I just saw a customer's bill that is $12.99 a month. He's getting the Welcome Pack at $19.99, Encore half price for $3 and $10 off for 10 months. I don't think I've ever seen a bill that low without referral credits.

Heck that's hardly more than I paid when I signed up in December of 2001. And that was a special loss leader sweet deal back then.

I've seen lower. Didn't say I liked it...LOL. Problem was, customer was given credits, then changed the package, and still had the credits. I've seen a few around $9.99/month, and I have seen even lower than that.

As an employee of Dish, my opinion is my own, and does not represent my employer in any way.

my grandfather managed to get dish to provide and only charge him for local channels for years. no idea how he got away with that. his bill was $10 a month. some folks just get lucky.

back in the day you could. I had an account with just locals ("moved ones") and the free Public Interest package and my bill was about 12 bucks with tax. If I remember right
5.99 for locals
5.00 "no package" BS fee
taxes

Here is a list of the PI channels (this link is outdated but it gives you the jist)
