For some reason, LA Dodger games on ESPN are blacked out on the Big Island. I asked a Dish rep who indicated that it was ESPN's decision. I inquired with ESPN who apparently referred my inquiry to a black hole.

Does anyone know what the rationale is for this?

Perhaps another local station had rights to broadcast the game. This happens to me sometimes and I'm stuck watching an SD feed instead of HD due to blackout rules.

As far as I can tell, FSN Prime Ticket is available on Directv but not Dish. My Dish guide does not list FSN Prime Ticket. There is no cable service where I live. We receive only the Honolulu network channels off air (sometimes).

They just don't want the islanders to see them get whooped by that team from the desert :)

Truth is, Hawaii has many teams claiming them as home territory. This is supposed to change for next season and blackouts may become much more realistic (like, within driving distance of the stadium).

FSN Prime Ticket is available in Hawaii but it is not included in as a primary RSN, only FSN West is, you need to have a dish at 110 plus sub to Dish's Multi-sport package.
The reason is that FSN Prime Ticket is located at 110w and 90% of Dish subs in Hawaii only have one dish for 119.

FWIW, the Dodger telecast on ESPN is also blacked out on Oceanic Cable in Hawaii but carry FSN Prime Ticket in basic as well as in HD.

Thanks for all your help. I do have a dish pointed at 110 (as well as one pointed at 119). I ordered Dish's Multi-Sport package and the AZ -Dodger game is scheduled for 4:00 Hawaii time. Too bad this package is not available in HD --at least in Hawaii.

Thanks again,

next time you have a blacked out game, bring up the search page(press the # button on your remote). select "info" in the search option on the top, then type in the name of the team you want to watch. this will then find for you if a different channel is carrying the game.

Great idea.
