My sat is set to check for updates at 7 am so when it started a firmware update before 4 and while the unit was on I was rather surprised.

It took a good time to download as I noticed it was downloading at 4 am and it took 45 more minutes and then update another 10

weird as it was not even turned off or set to check for updates, whatever!

I got L445 on both my 622 and 722 this morning as well. I wonder what it did?

Based on the version number change, any changes to the software will (should) be behind-the-scenes type stuff. Very unlikely that there's any UI changes.

Version numbers mean nothing. They increment the number, unless that number was already used by some other receiver. They try to never use the same version number on more than one platform.

I also got this update by the way.

It seems like the update 'broke' my receiver.

In the 'status' receiver, there's a problem with turner 1 of my 622 for some reason on the 'detail' screen.

I had to leave for work real quickly but I did start a external hard drive transfer of 2 shows before I left. I will check again when I get home to see if it needs to be RA'ed.

This 622 is one of the earliest unit with defective HDMI. I never got around swapping out.

I just don't get why the slow update as it took forever to get the data to flash the firmware. It was like drip drip drip and finally it finished and updated

Over an hr to update seems a little long but I normally miss a update as it does it when I am asleep. I have seen them before of course like when it was installed but a hour + ?

When there is no transfer or recording happening, pull the AC plug out for 30 seconds, and then plug it back in.
DVRs are special purpose PCs and clearing all the memory can reset things back to normal.

I did just that prior to starting the transfer.. didn't fix the problem.

I will do the same thing again when I get home tonite except to leave it off for at least 5 minutes. Hopefully that will fix the problem.

Actually, I never look at that "detail" screen ... but I did so due to your post, and I have the same thing - except tuner 2 in my case.
I also have a Red X in 129, but I am getting perfectly good readings in signal strength (actually better than usual) and no problem with channels on that satellite. A Switch Check came up 100% good.

The message in Details was "you have had 2 signal losses on Tuner 2 between [time of 445 update] and [current time].

It sounds to me that they added code to detect minor glitches, and the Info screen is being more dramatic than necessary about these glitches.

Tiny very short signal losses are normal for satellite TV - I've had them for 10 years, with setups of entirely different hardware components than my current setup.

PS This seems to be an unusually bad time for the software to get more picky about signal losses, as the Sun goes directly behind all of the Satellites today. You should see some temporarly outages from noon to 2pm...

Yeah, that worked for me and my 721.

Erased ("reinitialized") my hard disk. Lost all my recordings.

But granted, that's usually not much of a risk.

My details for the last 3 months ( or more ) show 'drift' but no tuner messages when I checked a minute ago.

I knew I would get the drift and since it is not cutting out I have not had it fixed. I am still trying to decide to 'move' and repoint with a 1000.2 thus killing two birds with one fix. I keep putting it off because of the 'move, koff' I want to do.
I will kick myself when 110/119 just go out because of the LNB is going out
Drift is now 7 on the 622 and I think the 522 now reports a higher #

I did more testings last night and noticed on Turner 1, it took a long time to switch channels that are located on different satellite.

My other 622 still has L4.44 and there's no problem switching channels.

Still no group PVR recordings by date.
Yes there is - the SORT affects the GROUP order now.

For example, right now my screen says:
My Recordings

Group Type: Group by Title
Sort Type: DVR Date

and if I press the SWAP button, it toggles to:
My Recordings

Group Type: Group by Title
Sort Type: Alpha/Numeric

... and that's Alphanumeric, Bob ! ;)
