Do all of the HD locals out of Los Angeles come Sat and transponder? If so then how come I can get channels 2,4,5 and 11 with no problems but can not get channels 9 and 13? Since I realy don't live in these areas but I do get them anyway it is strange that last year I got the two and not the others. Thanks

Some of the LA locals are on CONUS for dns usage. The rest are on spot beams.

Thanks, but which ones are on spotbeams? Are all of the HD locals on the same sat and trans or are they on different ones? I pick up the ones mentioned 500 miles away and they are HD. The other two, KCAL and KCOP I don't get but I did last year. The others I didn't get at all. Strange twist. So, not talking SD channels, are all of HD locals off the same or not?

here is the list of both SD & HD locals for LA

The HD ones on 99W are conus, the ones on 103W are spotbeamed. 101 is a spotbeam too (if you see the satellite name it says D4S or D9S which means spotbeam)

thanks Iceberg. This helps alot. Just funny how last year I could pick up the 103 bird with no problem and couldn't get the 101. This year it is reversed and I have tried to tweak my sat dish but can't find 103. Thanks anyway

I was looking at the list Iceberg gave me and was surprised to see that KTLA is on D10 as well as as KCOP and KCOP but on a different transponder, 21 vs 19 for the other two. If I am looking at 103 for HD and can get KTLA but not the other two does this make a diffrence because of the 19 vs 21 transponder? It would seem if I can get 103 then I should be able to get all of the transponders. Please enlighten me and show me the way. Thanks

Is 19 spotbeam? Did they tighten up the beam over last year? This will stop me from going nuts over why last year no problem and this year a problem. Thanks

from the list I have all are on spotbeam except for the Big 4.

If you look at the attached pic right column it shows the sat
99C means 99W conus
103s means 103W spotbeam
101 shows the 101 satellite but to the left the satellite says "D4s" or "D9s" which means the spotbeam sat

Thanks Iceberg. I now know these two stations are on spotbeam and they probably did something to tighten up the beam. Last year I could pull these in 500 miles from LA with no problems. This year, nada!

500 miles? Wow, that's a lot further than I thought any spot beams reached. Where were you when you got them that far away?

Noob pointing question

Bad power inserter or home wiring!
