I'm a little puzzled on how to view Widescreen DVDs with both devices. This TV set is 4:3 and when I watch a Widescreen DVD I have letterboxes all around. I know that's expected but with my previous set, I would set the DVD to 16:9 and it would fill about 80% of the screen. With this set, I only get about 40% of the screen and can't zoom in.
The DVD player is set to 16:9. I have also tried the other two settings: 4:3 Panscan and 4:3 Letterbox. The "Screen" button (zoom) on the TV will not work with the DVD input (Components) but it works when watching from a HD Dish Network receiver (HDMI Input). I have also tried to connect the DVD player with S video and regular composite cables with the same results.
My question is what can I do so I can zoom in the DVD output? Am I SOL and will only get the 40% display? Any ideas will be appreciated.
