This is not meant to compete with Chado's thread. I hope you visit it and "Contribute" appropriately.

But, since I am not in a position to travel to the flood area and donate my time in any way. I also have no discernible skills that would be of real assistance. I am interested though in donating money to the cause. I know we are all a bit tapped out with charities to aid troops in Afghanistan and Iraq, tsunami relief and God only knows what else but it seems to me that I would not be alone in looking for a good charity here.

The Red Crosscpmes to mind but I was wondering what other charities you may know of that might be appropriate.

I feel the Red Cross is best.

Yesterday I contacted the Salvation Army about putting up banners so people can donate to them and was told by them to call the Red Cross.

I know a lot of folks are probably doing the same thing I am and that is feeling helpless like we can't do anything. I have donated but yet I feel I the need to do more. I find it hard to even watch the news now as it is so sad.
