Kateeva and Sumitomo to pair P-OLED materials to Kateeva's ink-jet system

ateeva and Sumiomo Chemical announced a non-exclusive key partnership to pair Sumitomo's P-OLEDmaterials to Kateeva's YieldJet OLED ink-jet printing platform. The two companies hope this collaboration will lead to adoption of P-OLED inkjet printing by OLED TV makers.

After several years in stealth mode, Kateeva first unveiled their ink-jet system in November 2013. A year later they unveiled an ink-jet based encapsulation system for flexible OLED production. The company already shipped one mass production system (probably to Samsung Display who invested in Kateeva in September 2014).

The only flaw with this is that they are intending it for lighting, not TV...

It's been a while since we heard any updates from Sumitomo's P-OLED program. Panasonic used the polymer-OLED material to develop their OLED TVs, but they since scrapped that program. Sumitomo seemed to be focused on OLED lighting solutions since, but they did not release any updates since early 2014.

If they can get into inkjet tv's though, pricing could drop.
