Got the original rumblings from a member here who is in the Jonesboro, AR market that KAIT ABC (the only commercial station in the market) was adding NBC. They finally made it official

Residents in northeast Arkansas and southeast Missouri will soon be able to watch programming from a second television channel affiliated with KAIT. An announcement was made Monday afternoon.

KAIT, Region 8's ABC affiliate, will also begin broadcasting NBC programming to residents in the Region 8 News coverage area. NBC Region 8 will be seen over the air on 8.2 and on cable and satellite providers.
NBC Region 8 will begin broadcasting the week of January 26, 2015.

NBC local news will be carried from sister station WMC in Memphis

It's the talk of Region 8. You've seen the spots here on KAIT talking about our new NBC station launching later this month. Many of our viewers have asked questions. Here's how it's going to work:

Currently, KAIT 8.1, our main channel, is the ABC affiliate and original station that's served Region for more than 50 years. That station, stays exactly like it is.

On our other digital channel KAIT 8.2, we currently carry 24/7 weather in standard definition. The week of January 26, 2015 that 24/7 weather channel becomes Region 8's very own NBC affiliate in high definition.

NBC shows like Sunday Night Football, The Olympics, Primetime shows like "the Blacklist" and "The Voice" will all come from Region 8's very own NBC affiliate right here at KAIT .

For newscasts on this new affiliate, NBC REGION 8 will carry WMC Action News 5 out of Memphis mixed with Diana Davis, Ryan Vaughan, Craig Rickert and the Region 8 News team that everyone loves. This will enhance our coverage of breaking news and severe weather.

So basically, we're all getting two HD network affiliates from the station you know and trust. The other thing to remember is that both the ABC and new NBC affiliates will be easily accessible on an antenna and on your cable or satellite provider.

Residents in northeast Arkansas and southeast Missouri are now able to watch programming from a second television channel affiliated with KAIT.

KAIT, Region 8's ABC affiliate, started broadcasting NBC programming to residents in the Region 8 News coverage area early Monday morning. NBC Region 8 can be seen over the air on 8.2 and on cable and satellite providers.

You can contact your TV provider to find NBC Region 8 (KAIT 8.2) on your cable or satellite system.

KAIT Vice President and General Manager Chris Conroy said, “KAIT is home to one of America's strongest ABC affiliates. Now, KAIT will add the new NBC affiliation. This means that Region 8 viewers will see Sunday Night Football, The Olympics, quality news and primetime programming including “The Voice” and “Blacklist” on a local affiliate.”

Conroy added: “Having both the NBC and ABC affiliations gives us the unique ability to serve our viewers with more severe weather coverage, breaking news and the best local selection of entertainment television.”

KAIT's current ABC programming will not be impacted. Good Morning Region 8, Midday, Region 8 News at 5, Region 8 News at 6 and Region 8 News at 10 can still be seen on KAIT 8.1 and on cable and satellite providers.

Stay with Region 8 News for more exciting details about Monday's launch of NBC Region 8.

Directv launched it Wednesday

What is funny is when KAIT announced the "ADDITION" of NBC folks freaked out thinking they (KAIT) were dropping ABC for NBC. I guess they haven't heard of this newfangled thing called a subchannel :)

Both 720P or is NBC 480p?

I don't think they can cram a 720p (ABC) and a 1080i (NBC) on the same channel.

What replaced "Live Well Network" in your market?
