JVC has launched the smallest and lightest full High-Definition (HD) projector in the industry. The DLA-HD2K is also JVC's first theatre projector to offer an impressive native resolution of 1920x1080 pixels, which should create the same look of cinema film. Not your average projector, the DLA-HD2K is a two-part system comprising a projector head containing three true HD resolution chips and a digital video processor and up-converter. Designed for critical viewing venues and applications, such as post-production units for screening rooms, the unit is based on Liquid Crystal on Silicon (LCOS) technology and includes further image-enhancing features, such as smooth pixel technology which increases contrast by flattening the pixel surface to reduce light dispersion, and a dynamic square aperture lens that enables a high contrast ratio of 2000:1. A natural colour trimming filter promises to create vivid colours that are equivalent to that of a Xenon lamp by filtering only the elements required for colour reproduction and cutting out unnecessary biased light dispersion of the NSH lamp, and a newly-developed projection lens employs a four-group, 13-layer 100 per cent glass lens with an aluminium outer shell and anti-flare finish. Using JVC's proprietary optical engine, the DLA-HD2K is specifically designed to produce cinema standard illumination levels on 16:9 screens.
