I've been considering an upgrade for awhile, especially since I started with an avg meter for learning. Now that I've got the knowledge, figured it was time to upgrade and make myself self sufficient for calibrations, no need to hire a pro anymore.

Seeing as how I hate Calman 4.0, and Chromapure is really coming on strong, I went with their kit that includes a Display 2 and I1 Pro meter. The I1Pro is really the reference meter of the two, especially in color, but it's low light performance is iffy and it is a little slower. The process that is gaining ground now is to take a cheap colorimeter like the Display 2 and profile it to a better meter for a particular display, at the beginning of each calibration.

This works out perfectly because after taking measurements of a few test patterns with both meters, the SW adjusts the cheaper meter's error so that it is now as accurate as the I1Pro. What this means is, you have I1 Pro accuracy for color and upper end of the grayscale, and the lower end accuracy and speed of the cheaper meter.

Can't wait to try it, gotta get some hours on my new set first.
