Openbox Just got an Openbox Z5, I need to change satellite list to America!

Just got an Openbox Z5 FTA receiver. I like it real well but, How do I change the satellite list to the American List?

Sunplus Chipset. I don't know any North American distributors carrying this type of STB. Maybe the receiver's reseller can direct to to their North American channel list?

Not sure if there is an updated version of DB Tool or if there is a new software for this new model.

I sent a message to the reseller, but they said they just sell them and have no technical knowledge of them.

You will most likely have to build your own list.

Sounds like you're kinda 'on your own' there. (sorry to hear that) Sounds like you'll have to 'Build your Own' list via the remote. You should be able to change the satellite names that are there. Add or delete a satellite, etc. And also enter the satellite positions. Once you 'get 'er done' make a backup copy of the TP_List or whatever they call it. (User data, User channel list, etc) So you don't have to do 'that' again.

Contact the reseller and ask them if they will provide a copy of the Channel editor software. If not, find a copy of "DB tool" channel editing software and see if it works with a saved database saved to a USB drive from the receiver. If it works, this will be much easier than editing with the remote!

Who is the reseller? That is a total BS reply! The way I see it (especially with niche electronics) if you sell it, you support it... One of my biggest peeves is a seller who has no knowledge of a product they sell or unable/unwilling to provide customer support. Those resellers give customers a bad experience and are a black eye to the satellite equipment distributors!

Got it fixed! Had to delete all the satellites and put my own list in. Wasn't real hard but I had never done this before, and I learned something new. Receiver is great, with a fantastic picture. Thanks for all your responses.

Vaporizerexpress on Ebay is the seller. They were no help at all. They have no technical knowledge of their products. They offered for me to return it for a refund, but I decided I would try and take care of the problem myself.

I apologize for missing this post. I also have the same box. I got my NA list from the legitfta web site. carlospr43 and some of their other mods post here too.

I got mine two weeks ago. It seems that DB Tools needs an update. Will try to hack it myself.... If I succeed, I will get back to you.

There are new files recently posted at Yojia for the Z5. recent firmwares has USA satellite list. Updated Channel Editor (DBTool) and USB process to recover the unit.
