So the Cowboys drew 105k for the opening of Jerry World. From what I've read, about 25k of those were standing room tickets. Most of those apparently spent the night in in-stadium bars drinking $8 beers. Assuming that doesn't last, what do the Cowboys need to draw for the NFL to consider a game to be sold out?

I think the in house capacity is 80,000, which is still large. And the Cowboys charge $40 for parking! Who knows how much they get through other stuff? If the salary cap goes away they'll be no stopping them.

I think its insane some people would pay 40$ to park their car. or people would pay a 100$ to sit in the nose bleeds. I dont blame Jerry for charging the prices because idiots are willing to pay them. My beef is with the idiots who spend that kind of money. Then bitch about how expensive it is. Word of advice. If you want the prices to be cheaper stop paying the higher prices.

They are zombie idiots.

I don't get why you would pay $29 to watch a game from, essentially, a sports bar.

On top of the $40 for parking. I pay $10 to park at Astros games and think that's too much!
I don't get why they put luxury suites at field level. They are built like baseball dugouts. Only an idiot would watch a football game that way. The only thing you can see is the backs of the players and media on the sideline, but because it's a luxury suite you pay $10,000 for it. Jerry Jones is the modern day PT Barnum. They both believe that there's a sucker born every minute.

10$ is about Avg for parking at events. At least in this area. Some spots if they are really close during a huge event may cost up to 20$ but ive never seen it higher then that. The father you get from the venue the price usually drops. I try to find the "church lots" they typically charge less. Around 5$ sometimes 10$ to park when I goto the Citrus bowl. At the "Arena" onsite parking is only 10bucks so I spend the money and park close.

With the price of petrol, I guess there is a lot of money to spread around down there. Lot of money to spend to watch the game on a screen bigger than the one at home.

Because it was a spectacle. Why else? How many people went to the inauguration of Obama and couldn't even see it happen? Most did it just to be there, even if they were so far back they couldn't see. It's like asking why you go to a sports bar when you can make wings and sit at home with a friend or two. You do it to experience the event, whether it's the first game or the 20th, people are going to pay to get into that stadium.

Except they weren't actually in it. The Party Passes are for the pavillion outside the stadium, and at $29/ticket, $40 for parking, plus food and drinks that makes for one expensive experience.

I don't see how that made the point any less valid?

People like to hate on the Cowboys, but to expect a monument to excess to be cheap or something is deluding yourselves. Whether they're your team or not, any part you can play in the first game at a 1 billion dollar structure is probably going to be remembered much more than the couple hundred dollars you may or may not have spent on it.

So the place holds 80,000 , thats GREAT, can't wait to see the first BLACKED OUT Cowboys game....

80,000 fans every week, it ain't gonna happen, but the NFL will make some sort of an exception for the Boy's you just know it.

They came close to a blackout this week.

I hear you can see those stadium screens from the space station.:D

I'll start this post by stating that if I had a clue how to post clickable thumbnails, I would do it. Someone earlier posted that the Cowboys were going to have trouble selling out Jerry World. That's a bizarre thought. The Cowboys absolutely own Texas. The Texans have near zero interest outside of the Houston DMA.

I started looking to pricing, and I think that it might happen.

Single game tickets. All of the "cheap" ones have sold out for the season.

The first three levels of sideline seats are club seating with expensive PSLs to go along. A seating chart along with pricing.

The PSL for each "Founders" (white/50 yard line/2nd level) seat is $150k! Notice that you can pay them off in 30-year financing. A family of four could buy yellow seats for $200k worth of PSL, and pay it off in 30 years. That's a mortgage, and at 8.5% APR. Jerry has got one hell of a gig going.

The company I worked for used to have Cavs season tickets right behind their bench. Although it was cool to sit there, just for the simple fact they were so close to the players and the court, the coolness factor quickly wore off after we found it very hard to see over the 7' tall players.
