Just noticed that JDLC Channel 9417 is now gone from Dish Network, if you tune to it you get a Dish Network Logo and a message saying "Public Interest Programming Available On DISH Network"

Anyone know when they went off?

Hopefully they pick something good to replace it with, like Dr Gene Scott :D

I beleive you and I had a discussion about him in the other forum. For the entertainment factor alone I would love for Dish to carry Dr. Scott.

Scott, I got an e-mail about this on Friday Night. My guess is that the plug was pulled on Wednesday. But since the EPG wasn't touched (other than putting "off air" on the schedule) all the folks out there that do auto-scans to see what happened missed it. So the word didn't get out right away.

My guess is we don't see a new PI channel until December just before the FCC deadline for complience with the rules for the next year.

Geez, is Dr. Gene Scott still around? That brings back memories of my old C Band days. ;)

is he an old man that sits in a rocking chair smokeing a corn cob pipe?

I sent Dish a e-mail at ceo@dishnetwork.com to add Classic Arts Network on in place of Safety-Net. This was their reply.

We appreciate the recommendation for more public interest programming, Classic Arts Showcase looks like a great channel. I have forwarded your email to our programming department. As for future programming request, feel free to email us at Feedback@echostar.com.
