:clapThanks SATELLITE-AV, the 120" and options showed up & were waiting when I got home from work 4-28-09. Now the work (and FUN!) begins.

I removed the contents and took photos. Afterward I brought the equipment inside until I get to set everything up. I double-checked the box (ALWAYS a good idea) and found the mounting kit AND instructions -- that's why they're not in the photos.

The weather here isn't too permitting right now, so I'll post again later when I get to set up the support and start mounting and setting the dish.

I'm sure looking forward to it................

Bill

Yup good feeling getting a new dish. Congrats on that 1.2m

When you tighten the bolts that hold the mount to the dish sometimes it will pull the dish out of shape. After you get it on the pole, its easy to run a couple of strings and see how it looks in its final position with the support arms and lnb on it. So, I would check it before and after assembly.

Thanks guys, Digiblur, Meinename & Starman, thanks for the reminder :eureka. I knew this, but would bet half a fortune that I wouldn't think of it ;). I'll keep it in mind --In the typical tradition of SATELLITEGUYS, ALWAYS good advice!!:up

I'll keep ya posted -- lots of work ahead...

Great DishDigger!

Photos of the set up are in order since we know you have a camera! :D

Hope the WX will cooperate with you soon for a great trouble free install!

To all the folks - you all are the greatest :up. Thanks for the reminders, suggestions, and well-wishes. Iceberg, the CK1 is the one I had in mind to put on the dish. I've about got things planned out to put this baby up - even got my DG380 in today. I've got a LOT to learn and get set up in a short time , but been there before. I fully plan to keep eveyone posted - you'll probably be sick of me before this is over, but now I have a chance to participate in the forum like the "big guys" :hungry: and hope some of you get something out of this too, like 'how does this set-up perform'?

My scope of the southern sky is pretty lmited, though not terribly so. My coords (haven't found where to post all this stuff on the site yet) is -90.7366W, 33.7344N. It's a good location, but lots of OLD trees in the area -- they're TALL TOO! Anyway, I think I'll have fair coverage from just east of south over to a smooth southwest - not quite 90 degrees, but this is just an estimate. I'll try to post photos of the coverage, if they turn out usable.

FYI, I got to meet mrFTAman today - known him for a long time -- small world....:)

DishDigger, whatever you do, make sure that pole is absolutely PLUMB, and have plenty of concrete since that buckshot ground is mercyless! Let me know if you need my help!

Thanks, mrFTAman, I haven't planned to concrete the pole, instead I plan to steady against spin by mounting a rod across the end on the ground (this will prevent its sinking too_ and brace the upper portion to the eave of the north wall on my den. Due to the way the rafters are run, I'll have to brace the facia to hold the wind stress, but I think it will work out. I may be surprised, but I'll check it out well.

Thanks for the help offer - just may take you up on it...........

Click on this LINK for a PDF of the aiming coordinates for all visible satellites from your location.

Survey your property to determine what location is best to receive the satellites that you wish to receive.

DishDigger, before you do anything let me come to your home after work and see how your line of sight look. It has been awhile since I been over there.
Me, I am leary about your setup. That dish will catch alot of southern wind. The smaller dish isn't a threat.

I have a feeling someone is going to be having a lot of fun soon!!!!

Make sure you keep us posted on your progress, and we'd love to see the pictures....

You have an excellent new setup so enjoy the new toy :hungry: :up
