The UPS man just visted my offce with something I have been waiting for, for a long time!

The Slingbox Pro HD which I preordered back in September finally arrived from Amazon.COM! I didn't think I would ever get this from Amazon as I kept getting emails from them telling my expected arrival date and then as that date came near I got another email telling me it was delayed and asking me if I wanted to cancel the order.

I have not had a chance to screw around with it yet as it just came in, but I hope to hook it up this weekend and give it a spin. :)

As I went through the unboxing process I liked what I saw, however was disapointed to see that it came with the lower quality (i.e. not as durable) IR blasters. With my Slingbox Pros when I purchased the component dongle it came with these amazing high quality IR blasters. But these will do the job, I just worry about accidently pulling on one of them and breaking them as the cable is very thin.

One of the things I like about this new SlingBox is besides being able to watch my HD receivers almost ANYWHERE in full HD, is that it has a built in NTSC / ATSC / QAMM tuner. This means I can watch the unscrambled digital channels my cable company offers and in addition if I want I can hook up an antenna and watch my local stations via OTA in full HD. :)

I can't wait to try it out.

Doesn't matter what the format is because you will be dealing with a sling media player anyway.

The bit rate is listed at 1.5 Mbps upload for minimum HD quality. You will need a cable modem for this. Some wireless connections like satellite won't cut it. I could nopt find a spec for the remote player side. I have found that for nice viewing, on the SD connection, I need a minimum of 350 kbps and for full screen, 1.0 Mbps is required. I don't think an EVDO Rev A wireless will cut the HD bitrate. That's what I was hoping Scott would report.

Also, I see that this doesn't work with a MAC except in SD at this time.
