Isaiah and Dolan lose Sexual Harrasment Law Suit

Just heard it on the Radio. Not a good day for NY Knicks but that is an understatement since Ewing days.

Yup....

NEW YORK -- A jury ruled Tuesday that New York Knicks coach Isiah Thomas sexually harassed a former top team executive, subjecting her to unwanted advances and a barrage of verbal insults, but also ruled he does not have to pay punitive damages.

After an ugly, three-week trial, the ruling gives Thomas a partial victory in the $10 million lawsuit filed by Anucha Browne Sanders.

The jury did find that Madison Square Garden committed harassment against the woman, and ruled that she is entitled to punitive damages from MSG.

U.S. District Judge Gerard E. Lynch called it an "imminently reasonable" verdict and said the jury will be asked to return later Tuesday to hear brief arguments on punitive damages.

Thomas said he will appeal the jury's decision.

The harassment verdict was widely expected after the jury sent a note to the judge Monday indicating that it believed Thomas and the other defendants, Madison Square Garden and MSG chairman James Dolan, sexually harassed Browne Sanders, a married mother of three.

After the verdict, Browne Sanders hugged family members and friends gathered in the back of the courtroom. Thomas huddled with his lawyers, and was allowed to leave the Manhattan courthouse. Dozens of reporters and cameras gathered outside the courthouse to await his exit.

If I am not mistaken, this is the second time Thomas has had a sexual harassment lawsuit against him. Its too bad. He and Joe Dumars are the reasons I became a sports fan as kids. Two of the nicest guys to play the game of basketball. Except when Thomas was on the court. Then he was a "Bad Boy"!

Well the Garden has just announced that Isaiah "The Pariah " is not going any where and will run the operation just as he has before... too funny.

Sorry, but Thomas has always been a weasel.

They should take the 11M verdict and RUN and hide! They are lucky the jury did not award punitive damages. Thomas is such a douche bag.

I think that depends. I would not disagree with that statement in his retirement as a player. However, during his career as a player in Detroit, he was highly regarded for his squeeky clean reputation off the court. On the court he was definitely known for being a "Bad Boy".

Off the court, he would spend hours in the dead of night in the hoods of Chicago looking for his brother when he was in trouble, to try and help get his life on track. He has spent millions in charities in the Detroit, Indianapolis, and Chicago areas for kids' programs. I can not recall anything he did as a player that was scandalous off the court. And I would have known because I idolized him and followed him in the news and papers at every opportunity.

I won't apologize....the CLASSLESS act they pulled of not shaken hands with the Bulls when Chicago finally beat them in the playoffs showed just how lack of professionalism he and the other "Bad Boys" dipsh** had.

That was the old Boston trick. The biggest competitors in that time were Boston, Chicago, and Detroit. Boston did not shake hands with any Detroit player when they passed the torch to them, and Detroit did not shake hands with any Chicago player when they passed the torch to the windy city. It did not die with Chicago. After Chicago's three championships and Jordan retired they got whipped by New York in a division playoff game and Chicago walked off the court with out shaking hands with a New York player.

Its was sort of a Tradition in the East. But it started with Larry Bird's Celtics.

And I remember clear images of Detroit Beating Chicago in the 1990 Eastern Conference finals, and the Bulls starters walked off the court before the final buzzer while the game was still technically being played.

OR how about Jordan lobbying to make sure Thomas did not play on the original Dream Team.

They were all Classless!

And this IS documented right? I was part of the group that covered the Bulls from 1991 till 1996....and I heard and saw ALOT of things the media did not know...and that was something that was started BY the Detroit sports media ...

Sure its documented... just like its dodumented that it was started by the Detroit media.

I have seen Jordan faced with this question and neither confirm or deny he had anything to do with it. Usually that means guilty.

I am not saying Jordan is a bad person by anymeans. I hated the Bulls and hated Jordan. But that was because I was and am a Pistons fan. Jordan is the best player to play game, he did the sport a lot of good, and he is a great person off the court. And I do not blame him for lobbying to make sure Isiah was not on the team.

There was more Between Isiah and Jordan than just the Pistons or Bulls. Isiah was the toast of Chicago before Jordan got there. So there was a power struggle for whose city it was in their eyes. Jordan ultimately won, and since then Isiah and Chicago have nothing to do with each other.

Sorry Salsa, but Joe is right on this one. This is what I remember also.

And ALSO, I COVERED those games while on production assignment...that never happened. The thing the Bulls DID do was go fighting with the refs due to the Hue Hollins phantom call on a supposed Scottie Pippen foul. Forced 3 free throws...to give the Knicks the win....they didn't walk off...they stay to argue with Hollins....I KNOW....I WAS THERE....!! YES it was childish because the game was over and there was nothing they can do about it...but they DID NOT walk off and not shake hands....sorry...made up story.
