Is this normal for aspect ratio?

I have a Samsung HLN567W. I have a question regarding my viewable screen size through VOOM.

On HD channels the screen is perfect, 100% viewable. On SD locals, and SD programs on HD channels, the screen is 4X3 with black bars... no problem.

However, on other SD channels like E!, or MTV, for example, I get a stretch mode that fills the screen about 90%.

Is this sounding normal? I would like the stretched SD channels to either fill the entire screen, or have black bars. I am using DVI input, so I don't have any options to fix this on the tv side.

Any ideas?

change the video output setting on the box for "standard to wide" to pilar box. That will give you black bars on the side of the 4X3 image. Be aware however that your TV will not be able to remove them. The Voom box if set in 1080i mode only outputs in a widescreen format I believe. So the black bars will be a part of the whole image.

CSRs misinformation, why do we keep believing it?
