We have a 622 receiver that is working just fine even though it is 7 years old. I really don't have a need to upgrade to the hopper since I like the set up we have and don't want to rewire our basement. The only thing I really would like is to have a sling box to access dish anywhere on my ipad. I have searched here on the forum and really don't see the answer to my question. Is there a sling box that will work with Dish Anywhere and my 622?

Thanks for your help!

So I only need to purchase the app and I can use dish anywhere to watch my dvr? I already have my receiver connected to wifi and broadband.

The Sling Adapter doesn't work with a 622, he needs a slingbox and the sling app or he needs to upgrade to a 722/K or Hopper and then use a sling adapter and the dishanywhere app.

I would guess one of the new models of Slingbox would be good

So will any of the slingboxes work with the exception of the solo? Or will that work too? I don't want to upgrade to the Hopper because we have our system set up for mirroring and I would have to have the wiring reconfigured and I am being cheap and don't my bill to go up!

The OP will need a sling box as the sling adapter is not compatiable with the ViP622 receiver. They will need the Sling App which will run $15.00. The Sling Box itself is up to you and what you are wanting out of the streaming process. http://www.slingbox.com/
What a joke. I'm in the same boat. After 15 years with dish I just got off the phone with them and I said I'm going to look in to my options. Why should I pay for the slingbox and free receiver upgrade (with 2 year commitment) when my local cable company will give it to me for free. For 2yrs no commitment all three $84.95. They send me a letter like once a week. Then dish called me back like 3 times with no one on the phone. In fact one of the cable offers they would give me Showtime free for a year. Which I just added for $6.50 a month for six months.

Getting back to your question they offered me the 722k (?) for free (with 2year) and the sling I thing for $45. Call maybe they will give you the same deal.

The Hopper will most likely increase the monthly bill so it is not uncommon to not want to do that. You can upgrade to a 722 receiver and purchase the sling adapter for $49.00. It will require a 24 month commitment & a $1.00 credit card authorization only but it will allow you to use the DISH Anywhere and all the Apps which are available at no cost. This should not change your monthly bill at all.

You can keep the receiver you have and use the Sling Box and their App. Any sling box will work, even the solo but the HD boxes will give you a higher quality streaming. If you would like me to review your account and let you know exactly what would be involved with the ViP722 upgrade, please PM me your account or phone number and the four digit security code on the account.

I was actually thinking of going with the 722K, but I have been told by Dish that they cannot guarantee that an installer will have the "K" model which is the only receiver I would get at this point.

A ViP722 series will be a slide in replacement with no wiring changes or new system to learn. Then you can add a Sling Adapter- several of us here have them from upgrading to HWS and sell them for less than Dish (sorry to eat from your rice bowl, Mary). This will be a cheaper way to go and you'll get newer equipment and a larger internal HDD to boot. The Adapter works quite well, but I read the Box actually does a few more things.

Yes they can. More specifically, YOU can. Tell them you will meet the installer at the curb and if it isn't a K model the install is off and they've wasted a truck roll. Or maybe they can just ship it to you.

Odds are, it'll be a K on the truck anyway, since the K started "replacing" the non-K version years ago.

This upgrade would be mailed to you as it does not require a technician. The mailed receiver upgrade is normally the K model but I am not able to guarantee it. The K model will require you to purchase an MT2 OTA module if you are interested in getting your locals via an Over the Air Antenna. Just let me know, thank you!

Yep. I meant to point out the ViP722 comes with one OTA tuner built in, but the ViP722K requires the purchase of the dual tuner OTA module if you want OTA.

What's on van can carry since everything is refurbished in that category now. I have a collection of both 722 & 722k's on my van.

Anyone near Virginia have a sling adapter that works and is reasonable and cheaper than Dish? I need this by Wednesday, 7/3 and Dish can't ship it out to me until I have an active 722. I will be receiving the 722 on Tuesday. I would either need it to ship USPS priority or UPS. Please PM me if you could help me out!

Thanks again to the great info here!!! Anytime I have a question, I get super fast answers!

Dish and Slingbox problem...

is it worth getting a different program package?
