I'm looking at adding TV to my Comcast Internet service and the triple play package is the cheapest option for me and also provides the X1 platform. I have my own Motorola Docsis 3 modem, but do I need a voice modem for the phone service? Honestly, I don't care about the phone service and rather not have to buy or rent an additional device for this purpose. The online order system automatically adds a voice modem rental and fee of $8/month, but I talked to a sales rep by phone last night and she said I don't need another modem. So, I'm a little confused (not for the first time, and it won't be the last). The monthly package price quoted was the same except for the modem rental fee, but the install fee will be about $32 cheaper if I order online.
