Installing slimline 3 with h24-100 receiver - Cannot Get HD Channels

Hi Guys,

Please have patience with me =) I'm trying to install a Slim 3 Satellite, and connecting it to a H24 Receiver. I get signal for Satellite 101, but am not getting any HD Channels. It's a multi switch, and I have the BBC's connected. I'm also only using ONE tuner at the moment.

Please help. =)

I assume you mean you have an HR24 since you say you are only using one tuner.

What are your signal strengths on 101 (list ALL transponders)?
Similarly for 99 and 103?
What type of multiswitch?
What do you mean by not "getting" HD channels? Not in the guide? 771 messages?

Signal Strength for 101 is:



99c and 103bc I get:






Yes - I get the error message 771 on the HD channels.

I have two tuners available, but am only using Satellite 1 for the time being.

I'm not sure what "mast plumb" means... =) Can you explain a little more?

Annie, check my tag line.
A plumb mast is perfectly vertical. If not, it can affect the signal strengths. Did you set the dvr to use only one tuner? Check to be sure you have the hd channels set to "show hd channels". With those signal strengths, you should be able to view them. They could/should be better, but they are good enough for now.

Agree, those signals are sufficent to get video.

I think it is trying to use tuner 2 and you only hooked up one. Redo "satellite setup" and change tuners from dual to single.

Why don't you just order a SWM LNBF and power supply?

It's more than likely easier to convert, but maybe cheaper to run an additional line. I'd do the math first.

No, that shouldn't affect whether or not you get hd channels. Did you make sure you have the hd channels set to show all?

Are we 110% sure HD access is on the account? If its not it won't show HD even though its an HD receiver

It should be since you need hd access to get hd equipment, unless you are in an mpeg4 market. I don't think Orlando is one.

If she didnt have HD services, she'd get "channel not available" on HD channels not the 771 error.
Her first post said "BBC's" plural... if there's more than one on the line, that would do it.
Also, the BBC might be bad, or need to be reset... to reset it, channel up twice then down twice (channel up, channel up, channel down, channel down), doesn't matter what channel you start at (I usually start at an HD channel thats giving the Searching error.

Yes, we definitely have access. The other receiver in the house works. Also, yes, the receiver is set to show the HD channels. I see them on the guide, but when I try to view, that's where the issue is.

I'm gonna say bad receiver then. The older H20 models do this all the time but I've cant recall seeing a newer one doing it but there's always a first. Try swapping the receivers around but keep the bbc(s) in the same location, if it doesn't work where the other one is I'd say its a bad box

I just ran a second line, just to see if by chance that does anything... I'll keep you guys posted. Thanks for all the feedback... I'm determined to get these HD channels to work!!

You said you have another receiver. Have you tried switching them?

Alright, update. I have all the hd channels working, which is an improvement, but now, my local channels have disappeared. Help!

im using the my original box, and refreshing the signal on directv.com seems to have fixed the hd issue. Now my local channels are gone.
