Do they really work and what is min. cable length you should use them on?
 
They need to be installed at the LNB and only if your cable is longer than 100 ft.

If you're using a Dish Pro LNB, you probably won't need them since it is also likely your cable is also swept to at least 3000 kHz. Dish Pro LNBs can take longer cable lengths than legacy type LNBs.

It may be a waste of time and money to try it with DP LNB.

If you have a legacy type LNB, and a long cable run, it MAY help -- no guarantee, but they are cheap enough to try.

The amps are primarily used to overcome long cable run signal losses.
