Hi, I'm having a pretty big problem with my remote, but let me give you the story before I tell you the problem.

Two days ago my remote, which is a 6.0 IR/UHF PRO for my 522 receiver with DVR for the TV2, slipped out of hands as I was getting it off my bed, and fell to the floor about 5 feet down. Now, prior to this, a few days I lost the back piece to my remote as well. So needless to say, as soon as the remote hit the floor, the batteries scattered out of the back. No problem however, I've done this a dozen times. I just picked up the remote and batteries, then popped them back in. Unfortunately, it wasn't that simple this time.

It seems that somehow the coil wires, whatever you call them, inside the remote that connects the negative size of the battery to the positive, bent severely downwards. So I got a screwdriver, some wire, even a bobby pin to try and straighten them out so the batteries would fit in the remote, but nothing worked. So finally I decided to just pry the remote open and fix it that way.

I took out the tiny little screw on the back of the remote towards the bottom, and began to pry the remote apart with a flat-head screwdriver. In the process, a blue/green tab thing at the bottom popped out. I'm not sure if I put it in right away after it popped out, or if I waited until I fixed it. Needless to say I finally got the remote open and fixed the bent coil. I put it back together, put in the batteries, but it still didn't work.

A day later I thought that maybe it was the batteries, after all they did fit, but it still wasn't working. So I put in some new batteries and presto, it works again! Now this is where it gets strange.

Although it will turn my TV on and off and the volume up and down, it won't change the channels, and it will turn TV1 on and off. Then when I try and change the remote frequency, it changes TV1's frequency instead! I don't understand. It's like it suddenly will only work for TV1, even though TV1 is set to not use an UHF PRO. I don't understand! Is there an easy fix, or would it be simpler to just get another remote off of Ebay for 8 bucks?

So, you've got the top bunk!!:D:D:D

Yeh, just grab a new one.

Haha, yeah. Well, it's no longer bunk beds, just the top bunk remains.

Anyway, alright, that's the kind of answer I expected. I have a couple more questions, however, would you trust getting a used remote off of Ebay? The guy's feedback is close to 100%. 99.3%, close enough. I mean, $8, that's decent.

And you're saying the problem is with the remote, not the receiver, correct?

It kinda sounds like you put the tab in the wrong way.

If my memory is correct: GREEN is IR (TV1) BLUE is UHF (TV2)

Yeah, I thought about that, but no, it's on the blue side. Unless, is there a way to like, reset the remote? I'll probably just end up getting another remote online, but I'm not sure if I can wait out the 4-6 days it'll take to get here, ;).

You can reset the remote by taking the batteries out and pressing the power button for a few seconds. This will clear the remote and you will need to reprogram for your TV. Try this, take the tab back out and reinsert with the blue showing. Make sure the tab didn't get broken in the fall.

If you have dhpp on your Dish acct they will send you a new remote for free, usually takes two or three days to get it.
