I'm done with the NHL for life:

I've been an NHL fan for my entire life and after seeing yet another horrid game on the part of the refs I'm not going to bother ever watching the NHL again because the best teams cannot win anymore because of the refs altering of these games. From this point on college hockey will be all the hockey I'll watch plus worldwide hockey events as well.

Just two years ago the refs were very bad during the Lightning playoffs. Now so far this year I've seen bad calls always going against the lightning. In this last game tonight it seems that Buffalo players were just falling over left and right and worse getting the calls left and right. Now at the sametime I've never seen more holds on one player (St. Louis) in my entire history of watching this event. What is worse is that none of them were called. If they called everything ticky tact I would be fine with that if and only if they called it on both sides which they just haven't done. This game was very one-sided when you have 18 penalty minutes vs. 4 minutes.

I gave the NHL a chance and I cannot give them another chance any longer when I sit through watching these entire games not knowing how one-sided it will be. As of now I have so little time I would rather not waste my time watching something that might not be fair. Today the NFL is starting to get this bad but the NFL just isn't close to that point yet.

Enough of my rant but I hope that others on these forums feel the same way that I do and if you do please say something so I don't feel alone on this.

The discrepency in PIMS can be disconcerting. The worst officiated game I ever had the misfortune to see was Game 6 of the Pistons at the L.A. Forearm of the NBA finals in 1989. The fouls were about 7-1 called against the Pistons. Detroit won the championship the next 2 seasons but it should have been a three-peat.

Well in fairness, the NHL season is just getting started, i'm sure some of these refs are new and not only learning the rules, but learning the new rules. I'm sure if there's bad teams of refs, the league will take notice and mix them up a bit.

Take a month off, and then give it another try. How you can write off a lifetime's worth of hockey love for a week's worth of bad calls, which mostly seem to be against your team. Everyone has a local team who's been the victim of a lot of bad calls/drama from the refs.

Here in cleveland, ask any browns fan. We've had ref's throw flags into player's eyes when they're supposed to just drop the damn thing...Remember a few years ago when we started throwing bottles on the field because of the ref's? Just the other week the colts had a layer of teflon on them in the ref's eyes...It happens...

I'm a huge hockey fan---even bleed Red Wing red---but I am boycotting the NHL this season because of what happened last year. It's going to be rough at times, but thank goodness here should be enough CCHA hockey to get me through the season.

They deserved every foul called against them. They weren't known as "The Bad Boys" for nothing you know.

Under the new rules no contact with the stick is allowed. It is a two minute minor assessment. I have seen most of the games I have watched on NHL CI called fairly, but more importantly CONSISTANTLY.

I did not watch the Sabers (don't like 'em) game but if they were "taking dives" there are both individual and team penalties from a financial level ... I am sure the league would love to have a true fan back.

The new rules have enhanced the game IMHO, I like the offensive aspect. The games are coming with baseball scores nightly and it is exciting!!! Give the league a chance to settle Longhorn ... it is the coolest game on earth!

I might very well give it another month but I'm spreading very thin as of this point. I also know its my home team but I'm very good at setting aside my bias and emotions but at some point I can't let things go. I use my Tivo to even check myself incase I was wrong and everytime I replay it I'm more amazed at how bad the call really was. I'm the type of person that will let slide many ball calls in my view because refs are human. Most sports games including the Bucs I hardly ever complain nor care about a few bad calls. You would be amazed at how often I say the Bucs got away with one. The Green Bay game was one of those games when I said enough is enough while all the other games also had bad calls but nothing severe and these calls even themselves out over the year.
