Fox has reached agreements with the owners and producers of its hit talent reality show, American Idol, and with show judge Simon Cowell, that will ensure the network airing the show for multi-seasons.

The Fox deal with 19 Entertainment, Ltd., and FremantleMedia North America, co-owners and co-producers of Idol, includes not only show rights, but also partnerships with Fox in such areas are wireless and the Internet. Fox separately signed a deal with Cowell, ensuring that he be a judge on the show for at least five more seasons.

As the new season of American Idol approached this January, Fox did not have rights to air any future Idols, nor did it have an agreement with Cowell, the most notorious of the three Idol judges, to continue as a judge if the show was extended.
