i have a vip 722 with external hard drive

I have a 722 with external hard drive with a few movies on the external, will i b able to just plugg in Hopper and keep movies or will it have to like reformat the external hard drive and wipe out my movies?

Yes, it will work. No reformatting. So you can move everything from your 722 and watch it on the Hopper/Joey.
