columbus, oh.
I don't know if this has been mentioned on the forum before, but I thought I would mention it. I have the HR34 Genie but I do not connect it to the internet. Well, I was watching t.v. a little bit ago and a directv commercial came on and I did not really pay attention to it at first, and then it was like they were talking right to me. The commercial was like, we know you don't have your internet hooked up right now and you are missing a whole world of stuff. It went on and said I should connect to the internet to get all the free stuff, ect.. ect... It was not a big deal BUT it was kind of weird, I felt like they were talking right to me through the t.v. If they would have said my name, I would have had to check myself into a hospital :)

Actually sounds kinda creepy, I've yet to see the commercial

Have to look out for that one. I don't have my genie connected to the internet mostly because I have lousy internet and need to look for a better provider.

who watches commercials?? I don't even watch sports live. LOL

Actually I NEVER watch live t.v., I was sitting on my chair fooling around with my Iphone and the t.v. was on but I wasn't watching it, BUT the commercial pulled my attention towards the t.v., and as for watching sports I have NEVER and I guess will NEVER be a person that watches "recorded" sports. To me, when the game/match is over it is over and I either watch it live or I don't watch it. Why do I feel that way, I don't know why, but I will not watch recorded sports.

Thats kind of neat use of the technology.

Although if they have one that says "hey you sitting in front of your tv in your underpants" I am going to get very worried. :)

But I can't always watch it live while at work, though I do everything I can to not know the final score before I get home, But for retirees I understand, as is not as exciting as watching it live.

With the exception of NFL season and pausing the TV for about a half an hour to walk my dog during the 4/4:30 game and then playing catch-up , I also never ever record sports. I can't watch it recorded. It baffles my mind that channels re-air games, but I guess they need to fill the time somehow...

I don't watch sports much, but it never fails the games/events I want to see are on when I am not where I can watch live. and yeah, if I hear the score before I watch I can't watch it after that. except in the case of some "must see moment" then I will at least FF to that point.

the only sport I ever used to keep up with was NASCAR. I would record the race then FF thru the slow stretches and watch the wrecks and usually final 15-20 laps. don't even do that anymore, just can't get into it.
