I have a Hopper with Sling/Super Joey setup and recently I have been having issues that appear to occur primarily when all 5 tuners are in use. The system seems to become unstable and I occasionally get stuttering in video similar to what would occur when bad weather causes a low signal. Recorded programs suffer from the same problem. I have had to reboot my entire Hopper system several times over the past few weeks because of this performance issue. Has anyone else experienced similar problems?

It is necessary at times to do a check switch run to make sure that all your tuners are ok. I found this out last Spring when I got my super joey. I had to do quite a lot of check switch runs, because the super joey would not see the hopper or the guide update would be on the super joey tuners and couldn't be used till I did a check switch run. That and to do a hard reboot on your receiver. Pull the plug and then wait about 30 seconds and plug it back in. Also make sure that you only have one kind of internet connection. For example either wired or by wireless ,not both or it will cause video /audio degradation problems. Found that out the hard way. I had ethernet run to my hopper and wireless enabled too and it screwed up my picture and sound but good.

I was using wireless previously and just added a hard-wired connection a few weeks ago. I never disabled wireless, assuming that it would recognize a wired connection and ignore wireless, but based on your comment that may not be the case.

I just went into the settings and couldn't find any way to disable the wireless connection. Do you remember where the option is at?

IF I was you I would disconnect the wired connection and leave the wireless one alone. That is what I did in my case. Then after a hard reset (pull the plug and plug back in) , you should see your problems go away.

If you want to use wired and need to make the hopper forget wireless, the only way is to make it forget your password. Go into the wireless settings, and go through the setup again, but type in the wrong password.

In my case, wired is the preferred method since my receiver is relatively far from my router. I still can't figure out how to remove the wireless connection though. If I go into the network settings and the wireless wizard, I can choose the network and then it prompts me for an encryption key. Even if I enter an incorrect password, it seems to revert right back to the previous working password.

Have you tried unplugging your Hopper AC power chord reset?

If all else fails you can do a reset back to factory status to clear out the wireless status and you could start over ,but that is an extreme measure. Why not call DISH tech department and ask them what to do.
