HughesNet dish for Dish Network?

What!!???

Technically it would probably be possible. You would have to find the exact focal point and mount multiple LNB's on a fabricated feed arm in just the right places. After all that you might be able to get the same numbers as with a regular dish if you got lucky.

I remember a long time ago I got a DirecTV 101 signal using a garbage can lid to prove the point. :D

Yeah, but you're talking about doing some re-engineering. The OP just wanted to change the "thingy"

What!!???
Yeah, I started to say it can be done with some ingenuity, have done it many times with all sorts of dishes in FTA over the years.
However, for someone not skilled, and doesn't understand how it all works....the answer is no. You seen the terminology the OP used didn't you. ;)

how about a DirecTV dish?

That might take a bit less to get it working than a Hughes dish, but why not just use a proper Dish dish? I got one of my 1000.4's from a friendly Dish installer that had it in his van from an H3 upgrade for a neighbor. He even left an EA LNB on it, all for the price of a cup of coffee on a cold day

Why would you even try either??
You can get a dish prob from any location where someone has cancelled - just ride down the road and look for them with LNB's missing...some people take them and sit them out for garbage pick up.
Also local recycle places may have em dropped off and then there is ebay where you can get one very cheap.. lol I mean
WHY?

Just go around and look for one - I'm sure someone would offer you up one they no longer use they took down or need to take down.
When I was doing installs I used to have several 500's laying around and always kept one in my truck in case I needed a quicker install (raining) comes to mind lol.

I've looked on OfferUp let-go and Craigslist for 3 weeks and can't find anything that will work..just direct tv dishes. I found them on eBay but they're about a hundred bucks and I would rather just pay for a cup of coffee on a warm day.
