Hughes HTL-HD receiver

Pretty sure it is dead to DirecTv, but maybe someone here has a solution... Got my old Hughes HTL-HD receiver out of storage...Tried to plug it into the satellite to use in a spare room, but the receiver doesn't register the satellite. Even used the upgrade box that my other HD DirectV receivers use, and still nothing. Am I missing something here?

I was hoping that at least i could watch non HD programming with this box. If not, what is it good for?

Stone is right, I have an old one also that I used for OTA, but found that the tuners in both my Samsungs are far superior, they find more stations and have better signal strength. The last time I tired (when I was setting up an OTA antenna) the hughes pulled around 19-20 stations and the Samsungs found28-30 and most were around 70% with a couple at 100%
