Hughes Gen4 and SSL connections

I upgraded to Gen4 service about a week ago. I've had very poor luck connecting to certain https sites, in particular, https://play.google.com. Once, I rebooted my "modem" and it started working fine. The next day it began to fail again. I tried booting the modem but no joy. Is this something there is any hope to fix or is it just one more joy of living 1/2 mile off the main road?
