I have a Gateway GM5474 media center PC with Windows Vista home preimum installed. I only recently tried to watch a DVD on the machine after connecting it to my new bedroom flatscreen. To my suprise it didn't read the disk. After some experimentation I found the computer will play some movies and not others. All are factory DVD movies in perfect condition yet some titles simply will not load in the drive. You can hear the drive spin up a few times trying to read the disk and then stop. Windows explorer can not see a disk in the drive at this point. All the DVDs work fine in a regular DVD player. The titles which can not be read are consistent.

Vista codec? Drive firmwear? Copy Protection? I updated all my drivers using Driver Dectective to no avail.

Thanks for any ideas

Are the ones it will not read from one particular studio? Sounds strange but one of my first nice stand alone DVD players would NOT play any Disney movies.
