HTC Corporation is reportedly working on new software for its Windows Mobile smartphones that allows them to work as WiFi routers. Apple iPhone users currently enjoy this tethering feature, and this could be another win for the powerhouse company.
Currently HTC users can use Internet Sharing when connected to a PC or notebook via a Bluetooth connection or USB cable. While using a USB cable will always be an option, a faster connection will be needed to keep up with today’s HSDPA and HSUPA protocols.
Though in the early stages, the application from HTC, which is called “Mobile Wi-Fi Router”, could be available for future firmware updates. It is unclear at this point which phones will come with this feature, or which carrier would allow tethering devices.
Does anyone have an update to this application?
