HR24 won't stop going into screensaver

The topic pretty much says everything... I've got an HR24 DVR feeding into an ATSC Modulator to feed a DirecTV receiver and over the air channels to TVs in the house that don't have their own receiver. The modulator part is going great, but I can't keep the darn thing from going into screensaver mode with the bouncing DirecTV logo. I have the power save features off, have restarted it, cleared it, etc. and it still randomly does it with no rhyme or reason. I control it via IP and have it "change" channels several times a day. The IP commands do change the channel, but it still remains in screensaver when it gets in these modes even after the channel changes. You hear audio, but don't see a picture. I have to physically go to it and hit the select button to make it wake up.

Anyone have any ideas?

Maybe there's a bug and IP control doesn't wake it up, and it needs to see IR. You can buy something like Global Cache's IP2IR which will let you send IP commands to it and then it'll send out IR signals via an attached IR blaster. I've played around with this some so I can give you the IP command to have it send the IR for "select" or whatever on your receiver.

Costs about $100 but if you've bought an ATSC modulator I guess you aren't shy about spending money for this setup. Out of curiousity, what brand did you get and how much did it cost? Been thinking of getting one myself to insert content into my H20s.

I went cheap, but it works fine for what I'm doing. I got the Pixel from PVI video. It's 720p only, with the actual RF channel set via dip switches on the back. It can do ATSC or QAM. It sells for around $295 but you can get package deals that pull it down to about $250 if you watch their site. Video quality is pretty good. The IP2IR sounds like a good possibility. Just set it to send the "Select" command every 30 minutes or so to make sure it stays awake.

I've made it a component of my DVR system running on Channels DVR. I'm running Channels on a Synology box with two HDHomeRun devices. I set the modulator above RF35 so it doesn't interfere with any real stations I get OTA. The end benefit is Channels gives me a way to watch OTA antenna stations, TV Everywhere feeds, and the modulated feed from the DirecTV box in any room I don't have a box in already in one uniform guide that is "wife friendly".

Sounds like you have the adult channel subscribed on this box and are trying to feed it to a small motel.

Or Atleast that’s the situation I have seen this come up in most often.

If you didn’t keep the receiver on a single channel, it wouldn’t go into sleep mode because you would be changing channels and taking it out of sleep mode

If it’s set on one channel, try setting an auto tune timer to tune to your porn channel every 3 or 5 hours.

No, it's in my house. I mainly use it to rotate cartoon channels during the day for my wife & daughter. As I outlined it lets me easily mix it with OTA channels using Channels DVR on a fire stick.

I use a .bat file to change channels during the day. A task scheduler on my PC runs the .bat files throughout the day. I can also manually run the batch files, and the channel changes (you can hear the correct audio) but it doesn't come out of the screensaver.

Looking online I did find a manual that outlines how to control a DirecTV box with HTTP commands. I've found this command will wake it up:

Code:
http://192.168.1.251:8080/remote/processKey?key=select

The only problem is I haven't found a way to automate the HTTP command with the task scheduler. It will do it by opening a web browser and running it, but then you're left with a bunch of browser windows open that you have to manually close.
