Hi I've had the HR22-100 for about 3 weeks now and it has been running VERY SLOW! I mean painfully slow. If I type in a number on my remote it will take my receiver literally 10-15 minutes for the channel to start typing in which then I have to clean and retype in.

I called DirecTV and they had me go through a few steps, but by the time I got off the phone with them they told me those speeds were normal and it's just something I need to deal with if I want a DVR. I think that's ridiculous and if that's the case are the HR-23's any faster? And if they are I want them to send one of those out and take this piece of crap back because I can't stand trying to change channels or going to the guide and constantly waiting 15 seconds for the receiver to know I typed anything in. And yes I have tried with two different remotes and they both do the same thing.

So does anyone have any ideas on what I should do to get this thing to work faster, or is there another DVR that runs any faster?

10 or 15 "MINUTES" ? Really? I just can't remotely believe that it takes that long for remote response and they said that was normal.. My HR20's are near instantaneous. I know differing models, but just saying....

I'm sorry I made a typo...but it's 15-20 seconds which is still way too long.

most of us do experience lag in response to many commands. this is pretty much normal for D* dvr's. 15 to 20 sec is a bit much but i have experienced slow responses up to 10 sec. most of the time it's about 5 sec which is still too much.I've heard the HR22 is the slowest according to some members here. the HR23 is suppose to be a little faster but all D* dvr's experience some lag at one time or another

You are right

I wrote in this site about a month ago the i had all HR21. And they were all silver. I need a black to match my setup in the basement. TO make the story short i had to go to best buy and shelled out $199.00. Now it was a HR22. It is very slow compared to the HR21.Now just asking could some time the HR22 AND THE HR23.

My HR-22 is about 5 sec on average. I've rarely had longer delays than that. I agree that it's somewhat slow.

have you tried a firmware reset? You will probably get the same version, but it could fix your problem......restart receiver from the settings menu, upon restart, enter 0,2,4,6,8..

My set was very slow and I did a "red" button reset. After it jumped through the various hoops, it seemed to speed up my DVR.

Yes, we know, Directv is perfect in every way, shape, and form to charper1.

My HR-22 will be slow to register from time to time and it is very frustrating. Especially when you are trying to get to a certain 3 digit channel, and can only get 1 or 2 in to register before it changes channel. Type 244, and get 2, or 24. For some reason, it is intermittent, and can act perfectly later that same day without doing anything.

This exactly problem is happening to me. Very frequently since the new software upgrade. I now pretty much no longer change channels with numbers anymore. i exclusively use the guide or set favorites. Its frustrating, at first i thought it was low batteries, changed batteries. Tried different remotes, occurs with both my Harmony and the Dtv remote. My dvr has 70% free space, so that cant be the problem. Is there anything i can do about this?

Exact same problem here since software update, Really sucks.

Probably not very helpful to the OP, but I have the opposite experience since the latest upgrade. My HR-22 was painfully slow until the last national release. It runs like a charm now. No more daily resets - yeah!!!
