I don't think so. I know many use it to power an external fan or to charge cell phones.

Not USB, using external sata port, some are using 2TB external raid arrays

The USB port is used for the external AM21 OTA tuner.

You can plug it in, but it won't do anything. You can use it to send serial controls to the DVR, but I doubt that many users do that.

Yes you can with the 622/722. Now that I'm with D*, I have a perfectly good USB Freeagent EHD sitting here doing nothing.
