Hi, guys. few weeks ago i got my hr20-700 installed. works great. is it possible to export video files to another comp. if so please let me know. thank you

You are right. But, my beta Microsoft Home Server is 'talking' to my Ethernet-connected HR20-700. Specifically, the Media Center module of the server seems to be polling the receiver for exportable content.

All of which seems to indicate that growth in support of external archiving of saved programs is certainly possible.

Oh I agree with you. It's technically possible and not that hard to do. But Hollywood will never allow it and DirecTV would be sued to death if they tried to do it. Only way it will happen is if it's wrapped up in some wild DRM scheme. If it's not then Bittorrent is the next stop and that's what Hollywood doesn't want at any cost.

BUT, DirecTV is working an a "DirecTV To Go" thing similar to Tivo so we'll see where they take that. If they have a solid DRM you never know. :D
