I replaced my huge RCA antenna with a CM4228 tonight. The odd thing is I can get channel 3-1 on my HR20-100 but my HR20-700 shows no signal for 3-1. I get 3-1 with my digital tuner through my HDTV. I was getting 3-1 on both HR20's before the antenna switch. Any ideas?

The 4228 is a UHF antenna, but gets the high VHF stations well. I don't know what channel the 3-1 station really is, but the HR20-700 may have a less sensitive tuner compared to the HR20-100, thus not picking it up well.

I checked and 3-1 is on UHF channel 15 so that should not be the problem. I have reset and also reset the OTA setup. I called DirecTV and they want to send me a new DVR. I don't think the tuner is messed up because it picks up the rest of the channels fine.

One box, if I am not mistaken has a more sensetive tuner than the other. I am not sure which is which, but based on what you have posted here, I would guess that the 100 is the better one.

Where in alabama are you located? Do you have an amp hooked up to it?

I am in Eufaula and I have a CM7777 hooked to it. Odd thing is I was getting 3-1 on the big RCA antenna and as soon as I put the CM4228 it starting screwing up.

To paraphrase what was said above. Not all tuners are created equal. Some have higher sensitivity and can reject the multipath from the antenna. I suspect that that those two antennas also have different directional characteristics and thus different multipath.
